Warning: Only fans of Battlestar Galactica will relate to some things in this post. Other people...ah well we cannot expect everyone to have good taste in TV :P
It always surprises me how much we like to be scared. We may call it 'thrilling' but in all honesty, when I was screaming my ass off on this roller coaster so aptly named the Cylon ride, I was not thrilled. I was scared. I was absolutely, mindlessly, scared.
But then again I did not shut my eyes. Nor did I cry (which is more than I can say for some other passengers on the Cylon ride! hah! Aren't I brave?) So perhaps I was not actually terrified either. Also, if I was really scared shitless then why do I find myself wishing that I could go again?
Anyone who plans to visit Singapore, if you love rollercoasters, and BSG, do pop in to Universal Studios! They have this AWESOME BSG themed twin rollercoaster. One is named Human, and the other one is Cylon. Having been informed by previous riders, I chose the Cylon ride, beacuse..well its supposed to be scarier than the Human ride. (And also I've always had a thing for Cylons :D)
I didn't have time to try the Human ride as well though, that could have given a better comparison. But the basic difference of the two is that the Human ride is the conventional roller coaster where you get to keep your feet on the ground. In contrast, the Cylon counterpart is an 'inverted rollercoaster' so you actually sort of hang with your feet dangling in the air. The Human ride is supposed to be faster, but the Cylon ride is supposed to be more thrilling.
The ride was truly amazing. I don't think I ever stopped screaming! :D We were turning and dipping and falling and turning and I found out what they mean by having your heart in your mouth! At certain points I thought we were going to collide with either the other rollercoaster which runs at the same time, but of course we never did! I also had the great fortune to be seated at the front so I had great views!!
If only they can sort of incorporate a sort of virtual reality to this as well...so that it would feel like we're actually on Vipers flying in space! Maybe like a grown up and scarier version of Disney's space mountain!
Anyways, well done Universal :) Here's to the BEST rollercoaster I've ever been on...!
Good hunting everyone!

//ah well we cannot expect everyone to have good taste in TV // Have you watched Game of Thrones? The best TV series ever? :D
ReplyDeleteI also can't understand why we pay to get scared. Yet still we happily go and pay to sit there and get thrown around.
// Have you watched Game of Thrones? //
DeleteHave I noticed that the sky is blue? :P
I loved watching Game of Thrones so much that I have now started to read the books :D Awesome stuff!
After reading I realized that they actually change some bits on the tv series... The age gap between Arya an Gendry for example...Well try the books and see for yourself :) Or have you done that already?
i hate rollercoasters....:(
