Why does cherry candy taste like medicine?

I have noticed that whenever I come across cherry flavoured chocolates, the ones that have gooey syrupy cherry mush inside them - they always taste like medicine! Rather like those cough syrups we were given when we were small.
I used to think it was just me, but today someone brought some Cadbury chocolate and two other people in my team commented that it tastes medicine-y. I'm sure Cadbury wont use fake flavouring so is it us?? Have we been 'taste washed' by all those cough syrups that we were given as kids so that we associate the real cherry flavour with medicine?
Scary.

  3. Nah. It is other way around just like the bottle says. Medicine is what taste like cherry candy. Well, in this case, you tasted medicine before cherry candy, and you think the flavor belong to the medicine. Not only that, since we have the assumption medicine have to be taste bad, now even cherry candy taste not so good. Isn’t it?

Don’t worry. It could be worst. Sometimes kids tastes X or Y race or religion, and then later stage they confuse why humans are like X or Y race too. :) Just like cherry candy.

  5. @Sam I think you're right. Makes you wonder about perception doesn't it? How does one ever know if her version of reality is the right version?

@Gehan uh huh..Do you think there's a government conspiracy against cherry flavouring? :D

  6. Cherry flavor? Unfortunately I have no idea of that ;)

But I wonder why Booster (Energy drink) taste like the syrups my mom forced me to drink when I was a kid. They are sweet but there's something wrong with the taste.

Bluetooth support on Android Emulator

I have been playing around with Android lately, and one thing that annoyed me is the emulator does not support Bluetooth (as opposed to J2ME emulator, which does). So if you do not have an actual Android device (like me), and you want to do Bluetooth/WiFi programming, you run in to a problem. Fortunately, there is a way out - Install the Android image on a VM and use your own Bluetooth device. This is what I did: Download Androidx86 from http://www.android-x86.org/ . This is an .iso file, so you'd need something like VMWare or VirtualBox to run it. Me, I use VirtualBox. When creating the virtual machine, you need to set the type of guest OS as Linux instead of Other. After creating the virtual machine, set the network adapter to 'Bridged'. Start the VM and select 'Live CD VESA' at boot. Now you need to find out the ip of this VM. Go to terminal in VM (use Alt+F1 & Alt+F7 to toggle) and use the netcfg command to find this. Now you need open a command
