Jinxed

It just occurred to me the strange way that things come up when we're hoping they wont...Like, you have a big assignment due the next day, so you stay up all night typing, and think - Gosh I hope the printer wont run out of ink and the next day -> WHAM! Your cartridge's empty!! Or you're out of paper. (Cringes)
Why do these things happen?!! Nobody knows...

Bluetooth support on Android Emulator

I have been playing around with Android lately, and one thing that annoyed me is the emulator does not support Bluetooth (as opposed to J2ME emulator, which does). So if you do not have an actual Android device (like me), and you want to do Bluetooth/WiFi programming, you run in to a problem. Fortunately, there is a way out - Install the Android image on a VM and use your own Bluetooth device. This is what I did: Download Androidx86 from http://www.android-x86.org/ . This is an .iso file, so you'd need something like VMWare or VirtualBox to run it. Me, I use VirtualBox. When creating the virtual machine, you need to set the type of guest OS as Linux instead of Other. After creating the virtual machine, set the network adapter to 'Bridged'. Start the VM and select 'Live CD VESA' at boot. Now you need to find out the ip of this VM. Go to terminal in VM (use Alt+F1 & Alt+F7 to toggle) and use the netcfg command to find this. මගුල් කෑම! 4 : වෙන්ඩ මනමාලිලාට වැදගත් අනම් මනම් ටිකක්...

පටන් ගත්තම ඉවර නොකර දෙයක් ඇද ඇද ඉන්න එක මගේ නරක පුරුද්දක් :( මඟුල් කතා ලියන්ඩ පටන් ගත්තට ඉවර කරේ නෑනේ... << මෙන්න 1 කොටස  << මෙන්න 2 කොටස  << මෙන්න 3 කොටස  ඔන්න අනිත් කොටස තමයි මේ... :) වෙඩින් එකේ දෙවෙනි මනමාලිලා නොහොත් බ්‍රයිඩ්ස්මේඩ් ලා ඇතුළු කට්ටියත් ඉන්නවා නම්, එයාල තෝරාගන්න කොට සහ එයාලට ඇඳුම් තෝරාගන්න කොට පොඩ්ඩක් සැළකිලිමත් වෙන්න ඕනේ. මම නම් හිතන්නේ මනමාලි සහ මනමාලයා ට  වඩා කැපී පෙනෙන අය මේකට ගන්න නරකයි. ඒ දෙන්නට complement වෙන අය ගත්තම තමයි කපල් එක ලස්සනට කැපිල පෙනෙන්නේ...උදාහරණයක් විදියට දෙවෙනි මනමාලිලා සහ මනමාලයෝ කපල් එකට වඩා උසට ලොකුවට හිටියොත් කපල් එක කුරුමිට්ටෝ දෙන්නෙක් වගේ පෙනිලා අනිත් කට්ටියව ෆෝකස් වෙලා පෙනේවි.  දැන් ඉතින් ඔය කට්ටිය ගන්න ගිහාම නෑදෑ පිරිවර volunteer කරන්න ගන්න පුළුවන් එයාලව හෝ එයාලගේ දූලා පුතාලව :D ඒ උනාට ඒ බලපෑම් වලට යට වෙන්නේ නැතුව කපල් එකට ගැළපෙන අයව විතරක් ගන්න එක තමයි හොඳ. එයාලටත් ඉතින් ආස ඇති තමයි, ඒ උනාට වෙඩින් එක කියන්නේ කපල් එකේ දවසනේ. ඒ හන්දා කපල් එකට හොඳ විදිහට තමා වැඩ සිද්ධ වෙන්න...

PopCo - Read it!

I recently came across this book 'PopCo' by Scarlett Thomas. Its what is apparently known as 'Mathematical Fiction'. Non-math ppl, don't go away though! Its not technical at all ...It discusses stuff ranging from Cryptography , Reimann Hypothesis and Alan Turing to homeopathic remedies when you're 'feeling like glass' and even a cake recipe for a cake called 'Let them eat cake'!.. This book is loads of fun and can send your imagination overdrive. I suppose its central character Alice being a sort of geek gal, it would appeal to fellow geeks (like me)! Apart from being a fun read, it also questions some things that we take for granted today. Like, how much lies are consumers forced to digest by the corporate propaganda. Certain info on how milk is produced freaked me out totally that I havent been able to drink milk without a guilty conscience for days! Closing comment from the book : Change the World
